The Gateway of India, an icon of the city, is symbolic evidence of this. The British rule marked the amalgamation of the seven islands, setting the stage for its meteoric rise post-Independence as India's commercial nucleus. The King of England then leased the islands for an annual rent of £10 to the East India Company. The Portuguese gifted the seven islands to the British Crown, as royal dowry in the wedding of Princess Catherine with King Charles II. Although there is archaeological evidence of the region being inhabited since the Stone Age, it was the arrival of the Portuguese in the 16th century that heralded a new epoch as a trading hub. This coastal gem on the shores of the Arabian Sea originated as a constellation of seven islands.

Chicken Pizza – White pizza made with grilled shredded chicken, marinated fresh tomato, banana peppers, onion and mozzarella cheese, Steak pizza – tomato sauce, grilled steak, onion, house roasted bell peppers, mushrooms, a dash of America cheese and mozzarella. King’s alla Grande – Tomato sauce, pepperoni, Italian Sausage, marinated mushrooms, onion and house roasted bell peppers, fresh mozzarella. Fancy White – White pizza with garlic, fresh tomatoes, bacon, onion, ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, spiced and a dash of American cheese. Special Stromboli – Ham, salami, sausages, onion, mushroom, peppers, mozzarella, American cheese and topped with house seasoning. Gamberoni – Sautéed shrimp, garlic and roasted peppers, with onion fresh mozzarella and spinach.
Baked ziti – ziti done in our famous marinara sauce and baked with mozzarella. Meatball sub – sauce and cheese unless specified Wings – served by the dozen (12) or 50 with blue cheese and celery. Stromboli are oven baked pizza shells stuffed with deliciousness; available Small or Large served with marinara sauce.

Jalapeño Poppers – stuffed with cheddar cheese Side Salad – iceberg lettuce, tomato, cucumber, croton, choice of dressing, Mixed Salad – iceberg lettuce, Tomato, cucumber, black olives, mozzarella and choice of dressing. House Marinated Red Roasted Peppers – House cut and marinated, red roasted peppers. Sicilian Style – tomato Sauce and Mozzarella on a thick, light, crunchy, and airy crust!
There were 4.2 million households in 2008, which was projected to increase to 6.6 million by 2020. The city had a literacy rate of 89.73%, higher than the national average of 86.7%. The low sex ratio is partly because of the large number of male migrants who come to the city to work. A seamless fusion of cultures
The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, and Institute of Chemical Technology are amongst the major engineering schools in the city. The Wilson College was the first college in the city, established in 1832. Mumbai, along with the area served by telephone exchanges in Navi Mumbai and Kalyan is classified as a metro telecom circle. Electricity is distributed by BEST in the City district, and by Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (Mahavitaran), Adani Transmission, and Tata Power in the suburbs.

- Other parties such as Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen have contested and won seats in the local body elections in the city.
- In 1687, the English East India Company transferred its headquarters from Surat to Mumbai, and the city eventually became the headquarters of the Bombay Presidency.
- In August 1979, a sister township of New Bombay was established by the City and Industrial Development Corporation spread across the Thane and Raigad districts to accommodate the city’s expanding population.

Kings maintained smoking sections in most of its restaurants until a statewide smoking ban was enacted in Pennsylvania in September 2008. The restaurant also serves ice cream and milkshakes. In Kings Restaurant April 2025, the Kings restaurant in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania abruptly closed, leaving the chain with just three locations.
